TERMINAL 3 1/2; A LITTLE BIT OF NORTHSIDE AT THE AIRPORT
By Jo Rittey
There’s something a little bit cool happening out at Melbourne Airport just in time for all the comings and goings that the festive season entails. With the Harry Potter engendering name of T3 ½ or Stomping Ground Terminal 3 ½, this pop-up food and drink activation at the airport will bring to life Melbourne’s popular food and drink scene throughout the summer and provide a whole lot of loveliness for travellers.
T3½ will feature a wide variety of beers from Collingwood brewery, Stomping Ground, alongside Victorian wines, ciders and locally-produced soft drinks.
The Melbourne theme doesn’t stop there with local coffee from Proud Mary being served, as well as some of Melbourne’s best food trucks on rotation at the pop-up location.
The activation will be positioned outdoors for the convenience of the airport’s domestic travellers between Terminal 3 and Terminal 4. It will have a large screen where people can relax on deck chairs on a lawn area to watch major sporting fixtures like the Australian Tennis Open, the Ashes, Big Bash Cricket and Formula 1. There will even be occasional appearances and activations from Victorian entertainers, sporting events and cultural groups.
Melburnian cubby house creators, Castle & Cubby, will be providing a children’s cubby area made out of recycled materials so that children coming to the airport are occupied.
The pop-up will be open between 6am-9pm (licensed 10am-9pm) 7 days a week, so travellers to the airport will always be able to find a place to relax and soak up some Melbourne culture even when they are at the airport.
I don’t know about you, but even though I don’t have any travel plans for the summer, I might just head out to the airport all the same.
