Always wondered what a gin distillery looks like? Like the idea of gleaming copper and the magic of alchemy? Patient Wolf Gin have just he thing for you. On Saturday 26 August, Brunswick’s very own distillery Patient Wolf is opening its doors to the public for the first time.

Melbourne has enjoyed a renaissance in gin drinking over the last couple of years and Patient Gin got right on board with that. Founded by two mates in Brunswick, Matt Argus and Dave Irwin, Patient Wolf Gin is a hand-crafted premium dry gin made from exotic and native botanicals and an innovative distilling process.

The name says it all really; launching something like a gin distillery requires time and patience. Matt and Dave’s journey has taken the best part of three years culminating in the launch of their product six months ago.

Co-founder, Matt, said: “It’s been a crazy first six months. We won a Bronze medal at the San Francisco spirits awards on one of our first batches which gave us confidence. We’ve got something pretty unique. We’re different from the others and we want to show people how and why. And we’ve got an awesome space tucked away in Brunswick.”

Patient Wolf is now happily sitting on the shelves of Melbourne’s best bars and restaurants, such as The Everleigh, Cookie and Cumulus Up. As well as venues that give the north it’s edge such as Howler and The Penny Black.

The north is certainly getting behind the local brand as they normally do and now you have your chance to see what goes on behind the scenes to get this popular drop into the bottles.

Visitors will be able to join tours and explore the distillery, and marvel over the gleaming copper of their German made 230L copper still.

“It’s one of a kind and is custom made just for us. It allows the fresh and more delicate botanicals to be vapor infused in a botanical basket. We’ll also show people what Tonka beans are, one of the more unique botanicals which makes our gin very unique,” says Dave.

They will be putting on free tastings, G&T specials and you’ll be able to grab bottle from the cellar door.
